Stop Saying Divissive
Verbs that end in -ide produce adjectives ending in -isive where the “i” sound is preserved:
- decisive
- derisive
- incisive
In contrast, verbs ending in -mit produce adjectives ending in -issive, with a double s to keep the i short:
- dismissive
- permissive
- submissive
